The Sacramento City Library is part of the Central branch of the Sacramento Public Library system.

Opened in 1918, the three story Italian Renaissance building faces I Street in Sacramento, California. The library was designed by Loring Rixford and has been added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1992. The Central Branch is adjacent comprising the Library Plaza.

Volunteering

The one goal of the Sacramento Public Library that has the most to do with its volunteer programs is: To maximize public and private financial resources and support for the Library.[2]

In pursuit of that goal, the Central Library's Volunteer Program uses volunteers to: help with large and small one time projects and assist librarians and other staff with ongoing, special tasks
